45 Minute Timer
Forty-five minutes, running above. It is 2,700 seconds and three quarters of an hour: the classic school period, and the length of a half in football.
45:00
Nothing plays until you press start.
Three quarters of an hour
Forty-five minutes is 2,700 seconds. The number people actually use it for is the one that follows: 45 plus a 15 minute break is exactly 60, which is why a timetable of forty-five minute lessons still starts every hour on the hour. Four runs come to three hours.
Where 45 minutes shows up
- The school lesson and the university academic hour, both built as forty-five with the rest of the hour left for moving rooms.
- A half of association football, forty-five minutes of regulation before the referee adds stoppage time on top.
- Gym sessions, class-based fitness and swimming lanes, usually booked in this block.
- A long focus block for people who lose more than they gain by stopping at twenty-five.
The 45 and 15 pattern
Set this timer, then set the 15 minute timer for the break, and your blocks stay pinned to the clock all day. If forty-five is slightly too short for the task, 50 minutes leaves ten minutes instead.
Before you rely on the tone
The countdown is measured against your device clock, so a tab left in the background still lands on time. A phone that puts itself to sleep may never play the sound. Do not lean on it for anything where a missed alarm costs you – medication, an exam, or a cooking step that burns.
